David Doto is the ADR/Training Practice Group Leader of Hutchison & Steffen., He offers practical, value-based mediation, facilitation, and arbitration services in litigated and non-litigated matters, as well as traditional litigation counseling and representation. He possesses an extensive ADR and training background, including an LL.M. in Dispute Resolution from the Straus Institute of Pepperdine’s School of Law, and nearly thirty years of experience as a litigation attorney handling a broad range of cases in state and federal trial and appellate courts.
In addition, David is an adjunct professor of law at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution of Pepperdine University School of Law, and at the Saltman Center for Dispute Resolution of UNLV, where I teach mediation, mediation advocacy, negotiation, and conflict management systems design. Outside of academia, David offers the evaluation and design of integrated litigation prevention systems for organizations, and also delivers tailored training seminars for organizations, attorneys, and individuals.
Training seminars include conflict management and de-escalation training and techniques, interventions with high conflict or difficult people, and having difficult conversations. David offers a unique mediation skill set training customized for professionals who are not mediators but need conflict management skills to enhance their leadership abilities and/or job performance. He also offers negotiation, mediation advocacy, and decision-making training for attorneys seeking to increase their effectiveness and client satisfaction.
