For his first Nevada signature golf course, Nicklaus carved out a dramatic layout, creating a course with elevations ranging from 1,410 to 1,750 feet. For golfers of varying degrees of expertise, the par-71 masterpiece has generous fairways, up to five tee boxes per hole, as well as strategic bunkering and forced carries over canyons and water. With its dramatic elevation changes, superb conditioning and nuanced greens, this Jack Nicklaus Signature Course ignites a golfer’s passion and provides a peaceful escape.

The current ownership group purchased the club in late 2017 and consists entirely of SouthShore members and Lake Las Vegas homeowners. Their mission is to increase the prestige of Lake Las Vegas as a whole and make SouthShore Country Club one of the best private clubs in the Southwest.
“There were several reasons we bought the course,” says Ted Lachowicz, a leader of the ownership group. “Number one, we want to ensure it remains as a private and exclusive club. Number two, we want to protect and promote real estate values in all of Lake Las Vegas. And number three, we want to improve all facilities and the overall SouthShore experience. There used to be a lot of uncertainty surrounding the future of the course, and when there is uncertainty, people always think the worst. Now there is absolute certainty about our future.”
“We are very excited about the enhancements that the ownership group has taken on,” SouthShore Country Club General Manager, Joseph Travaglio enthusiastically expresses. “Over the last year, we have improved the culinary department with brand new state of the art kitchen equipment, and a blind taste testing of the top produce & products around the country. We, now have a wait list for our Friday night dinners, which will change as soon as we renovate the main clubhouse to provide ample space for dining and pub goers. SouthShore and Lake Las Vegas are on an upward path that I am proud to be a part of.”

The renovated 18,000 square foot Lake Club features the Motion Room with a variety of fitness classes, the Pilates Reformer Room, and Cafe that serves coffee, salads, wraps, sandwiches, smoothies and healthy snacks. Downstairs is a fitness center housing a Massage and FST Stretch Room, with the latest cardio and strength equipment. While outside boasts a beautiful heated swimming pool, whirlpool, tennis courts, sports court with basketball hoops, and a private lakeshore white sand beach where you can sit and relax or take out the kayaks & paddle boards.
SouthShore Country Club is in its final stages of creating a strategic plan to include a full agronomic plan and a facilities renovation schedule. SouthShore is currently ranked #4 in Nevada – Golf Digest’s Best Courses 2017 through 2020, however in the next couple years our goal is to be the number one private club in Nevada.
